Christ’s Love Ministries is actively involved in providing for those in need
Families and Individuals
The ministry provides food to those in need. Their need is the only requirement. Whether they are living in a motel, apartment or house, if they have no money to buy food and they ask for our help, we pray seeking God’s direction as to how He would have us proceed and do exactly as He directs.
In addition to food, the ministry has provided clothing, transportation, gasoline, bus tickets, dental work and household items.
Helping the Homeless
Christ’s Love Ministries, in addition to food and clothing, has provided for temporary housing for the homeless. Each case is approached according to a person’s specific needs and available funding.
Holiday Food Baskets
Holiday food baskets are provided to families and individuals. The ministry provides them for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Our baskets are not baskets at all but complete meals that include all the trimmings plus additional items that will supplement the food that was provided. If a family or person is living in a “by-the-day”, week or month motel, these facilities generally include a refrigerator and microwave. In these cases we purchase completely cooked meals so that all that needs to be done is reheat and serve the food. When the family has an apartment, we provide bags of groceries. We always check to see if there are any special dietary requirements and honor them.
We also provide an additional gift card for added items that will make the holiday special to each person.
Christmas Gifts for Needy Children
When the ministry helps a family with a Christmas food basket, we always check with people to see if they have children. If they do, we ask them if they financially can provide their child or children with a Christmas gift. Generally they cannot. At that point, we ask what the desire of their child’s heart is for a Christmas gift. Sometimes it’s clothes and others it’s toys.
Whatever it is, we do our best to get each child that special item or items. When parents insist on clothing because their financial needs are so great, we honor the parents request purchasing the needed clothing and then we research to find out what the going “hot item” is that year for a child of that age and gender. We then include it with their Christmas gifts as well.
All of our gifts are delivered beautifully wrapped and with each child’s name attached. Susan Fernandes usually surprises the adults with a hand made scarf so that they get a gift as well.
